VARIATIONS IN SUMMER OPENING HOURS: We will be closed on Thursday, July 17 for technical reasons from 1 p.m. onwards. The cemetery will also be closed during the August holidays from Saturday, August 9, to Sunday, August 24 (included).
Last entrance: 30 minutes before regulation closing time
Holiday closings: The Cemetery is closed on January 1, January 6, two weeks in mid-August and December 6, 25 and 26.
Open for half a day on these holidays: We are open until 13:00 on Easter, Easter Monday, April 25, May 1, June 2 and 29, and December 24 and 31. N.B. The Cemetery may close in case of need without prior notice.

The location
The Cemetery is located in the neighborhood known as Testaccio. You can reach us by foot, car, bike or public transit.

Via Caio Cestio is a side street of Via Marmorata on the north side of the pyramid. The entrance to the cemetery is on the left halfway down the street..

Metro B – Stazione Piramide
This is a centuries-old burial site and it is still active. We ask that visitors be mindful of the commemorative nature of the Garden and behave respectfully during the entire duration of their visit.
There is an excellent view of the Pyramid of Caius Cestius from the Old Cemetery, but it is not possible to access the Pyramid directly from the Garden.
We are trying to improve the accessibility of the Garden, but the presence of architectural barriers will affect the experience of some visitors. We thank you for your patience with the work in progress.

The Cemetery remains active: it regularly hosts funerals and burials. Our concession holders come to visit and we seek to provide an appropriate atmosphere to honor the memory of their loved ones. Visitor flow needs to be restricted so we can facilitate cemetery activities.
Please be attentive to the historic plants and giant trees. An excessive number of visitors can have a negative impact on both the monuments and the Garden. Remember that the walking surface can be uneven and wear comfortable shoes.
The cemetery is privately managed. The Administration reserves the right to refuse entry to visitors who do not comply with regulations or who disturb the peace.
