Group visits with your own guide
We welcome group visits, but to avoid overcrowding and to guarantee you a pleasant visit we ask you to please contact us only via e-mail at at least ten days in advance. We do not accept requests via telephone. Please provide the following information: where your group is from, name and contact details of the group leader/guide, date and time of visit and number of people in the group.

IMPORTANT: because of the restricted space in the Cemetery, a group must not exceed 20 persons. Larger groups must be split into two or more, each with its own leader/guide.

We regret that we cannot accept groups of school pupils under the age of 16.

Groups are kindly asked to leave a donation of at least €3 per person. All donations go towards the maintenance of this private cemetery which is also an important historic site.

Guided tours with a cemetery volunteer
The Cemetery can provide a guide in Italian, English or German for groups of 10 to 20 people. The tours last approximately one hour. Please complete the form attached HERE and send it to us at least ten days before your proposed visit. Reservations can only be made via e-mail. We do not accept requests via telephone.

Our guided tours are not suitable for non-native speakers. We remind you that we cannot accept tours for groups of school pupils under the age of 16.

For guided tours we request a donation of €6 per person (for schools €3 per person). All donations go towards the maintenance of this private cemetery which is also an important historic site.

Notes for group leaders
The Cemetery is private property and an active burial ground where funerals and burials take place and where concession holders visit the graves of their loved ones. The Administration reserves the right to refuse entry to visitors who do not follow the regulations or who disturb the peace and decorum of the site. All visitors enter the Cemetery at their own risk: you are reminded that the ground is uneven – comfortable shoes are a must!

Group leaders should read the Regulations for Visitors and make sure their group members abide by these. If you book a tour and need to cancel or think you might be late, please call the Cemetery as soon as possible.

On arrival please report first to the Visitors’ Centre to leave donations and to receive updated information.

Toilets are available but there are no refreshment facilities – there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the nearby Testaccio area a few minutes walk from the site. To plan your tour better, you might like to consult the map of the Cemetery. To find out about our latest activities see our Newsletters. If you would like to support the Cemetery click on Friends or become a Volunteer.

There is an excellent view of the Pyramid of Cestius from the site, but it is not possible to access the pyramid from the Cemetery.
